Total deaths in 2020 (as of November) for all types of mortality causes totaled 2.5 million, whereas, in 2018 and 2019, they were 2.8 million and 2.9 million respectively. There is no massive spike that had happened and there is no reason to shut down the economy.
@claypail Understood. Difficult to believe anything the CDC (a vaccine company) says. Nevertheless, everything they say is based on driving while looking in the rear-view-mirror. Fewer people have the flu, but many have died from Covid. I submit that, without the changes that have been implemented (masks, working from home, etc.) the death rate would be much higher, because of the "typical" flu deaths, plus additional covid deaths. I have never suggested or supported shutting down the economy.
