The name "Jesus" is a transliteration of the Hebrew name "Yeshua" which is an abbreviated form of "Yehoshua" which is a compound name from "YeHoVaH yoshia" which means YeHoVaH will save. Yeshuah literally means SALVATION.

I believe a more precise meaning is God is Salvation, if I'm not mistaken, as per my past studies
