The Uncommon Common Man
@BrighteonAdminOfficial Can I get two questions answered as well on this thread?
When Tor is used as a browser to log-in to this site, constant "403 forbidden error" messages flash upon the screen. Why?
Also, when using Tor, sometimes a "cloudflare" page will pop up asking for "human verification" before opening the "brighteonsocial" log-in page. Does Mastodon have a contract with "cloudflare"? If there is a contract, why does it exist?
@SouthernGuerilla Hi there, as for the first one, this is seems to be the Tor browser issue.
For the second one, we have no information about the "human verification" nor the contract. It might be just the Tor browser human verification, as it is working normally on any other browsers.
@BrighteonAdminOfficial No, its a "cloudflare" verification. In other words, what is happening is that "cloudflare" is recognizing the Tor browser when the link to "brighteonsocial" is clicked. And I already know the issue does not occurr with other browers---brave, firefox, etc etc---I have tested them---but those browsers are not "private" like Tor. (selecting random ip addresses or those within the circuit) "Cloudflare" offers variety of surveillance mechanisms for many websites. I am seeking an answer as to why the "service" interjects itself when accessing this site when using a private browser.
@SouthernGuerilla Hi there, as per one of the developers. Brighteon.social uses Captcha verification to avoid bots, so sometimes you will see it.
