Homesteading housewife in the rural south. I homeschool my awesome daughter, LOVE to cook, and am a general badass. Married to an amazing man who can reach things off of high shelves. I believe that you need a good home cooked meal and a bit of humor to make it to tomorrow.

“Acorn To The Noggin’” season is upon us. Have been trying to take a decent flagpole picture without being knocked silly. I need a helmet and hazard pay to venture forth outdoors.
Every night a slug army descends upon the homestead. In appreciation of the “live and let live just stay out of the garden” agreement we settled on this slug showed his appreciation in slime form.
Grilled apple slices to go on grilled pork. Thankful for the little things like grilling with my family.
Took a photo of my greenhouse today for my cousin who lives in a city many states away. The blocks are to make sure it stays secure. Prettied up with flowers I’m growing. She was curious about our homesteading ways. It’s, sometimes, hard to explain the how & why when people eat out all of the time & can just take a two minute ride to the store for groceries. No two minute ride anywhere when you live rural.
To take a mindless, fun break from the impending doom of the world (when not busy with the never ending homestead chores) I relax with “Old School RuneScape”. Here’s my overgrown, beautiful, cat I named “Gouda”. I hope everyone has something a little mindless to help them cope with the ugly.
Walking the property and found blackberry bushes growing. Excited that they are near the chicken coop.
Ok...having to much fun!! Inspired quote from my M.I.L. #gotcabbage #inspired
Another great inspirational text photo from my awesome daughter. #inspiration #inspired #needcheese
We were out of power for 7 days due to ice storms. It made me realize that going the homestead route was the right thing to do. Had lights, heat, water, food, and a way to cook. Our thing during prolonged outages is to put together A LOT of puzzles and screw with the solar (plus crank) power radio and find small, rural stations to listen to. The random classic rock is hilarious.
Ice storms five days ago. No power then. None now. New storm tomorrow. Cluster$&&@. Good thing we prep up. Power line in my front driveway. No one looking at it. No one. Down the easement is trashed at the road. Homesteading keeps us rolling. (Why is the photo sideways............(
Gloomy, rainy day on the homestead. Got the firewood in during a raindrop break. I might be muddy but, damn it, I’m warm.
