In our banking system, we know that if the amount of our withdrawals exceeds the amount of our deposits, eventually we’ll have no money. Spiritually, our souls work the same way: continuing to withdraw what the Holy Spirit gives us, and never depositing more of God, will lead us to live a life in debt.
In life, even serving in ministry, we can find ourselves coming to a place of being physically and spiritually tapped out. Oftentimes, this occurs when we operate out of our flesh, not seeking God’s direction. When we receive God’s Spirit, but continue to work from our flesh, we deplete the Christ in us and end up broke.
Even Jesus left the multitudes and disciples and sought the solitude of God in prayer: “But He Himself withdrew to the wilderness and prayed.” (Luke 5:16)
The teachings of revelation that open the Word are the riches of the kingdom. We should be storing these treasures in our hearts as they will take us out of debt and into abundant wealth.
