@ditrianum I live in the lower South Island of NZ, this is on a fault line and is not that unusual for the area - although 6.5 is up there. Our biggest issue here in NZ and the biggest potential of a major quake is at the bottom of the Southern Alps in the South Island. There has recently been found by Geologist's records of Magnitude 8+ quakes that happen every 300 years (Google "AF8") going back 1000's of years and guess what? We are way overdue for the next one.
