Back after a hiatus...
I've been super busy during the last few months. I've not been posting here but I have been listening to the Health Ranger's Situation Updates whenever possible. Recently, Mike has been talking about including plants with higher anthocyanin levels and I thought I'd share what's in my garden. Red romaine lettuce and Black Prince tomatoes. I'm also working on growing purple sweet potato starts. Of course, each year we get tons of blackberries to eat fresh and freeze.
@12345 Someone should figure out how to refurbish mason jar lids. Flexseal???
@chefkim the Amish gets theirs in sheets. They pop them out. Will be asking abot information on where and how.
Anyone else see this? President's announcement today (9/15). Might need an 'F' in front of it.

BREAKING: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announces the state already working to halt Biden's vaccine mandate "power grab."
@MaddMac @PattersonGlenFarm @Josephleepugh me too. Happened last night.
When the easy food is gone and we're living on what we grow, what will you miss? For me it's
1. Coffee
2. Dark Chocolate (I like 85% dark)
3. An occasional glass of red wine
All other items are either covered by what we grow.
I get to post a little more because our beautiful monsoons are setting in which not only relieves me of the watering chores but forces me inside a little more.
Everything is growing amazingly well this year, it's as if God is saying. . Hard times are coming so I will give you an abundant harvest to store up!
Thank you Lord, You are an Awesome God!

@PattersonGlenFarm and @MotherFarmer, add me to the list. I started last year with grainsas well. Doubled down on the area devoted to growing sorghum and corn this year. BTW. I've come to like substituting out 25% of wheat flour for sorghum in baking.
This year, I've reduced the amount of grains fed to my chickens by 1/3 with little impact on egg production. And this is before I start raising mealworms which is in my plans as well.
Been a bit quiet here lately but was listening to @HealthRanger yesterday and his mention of dewberries as forage food. Dewberry season is just starting here in NE Texas. We have a patch on our property.
There are a couple points Mike didn't mention. Dewberries are very thorny and the berries are often low to the ground so can be tricky to get to. Secondly, they often grow near poison oak. So dress appropriately when foraging!
Below is yesterday's haul with 2 random raspberries.

Overview of planetary peaks in the coming week. Note the second high lunar peak and final planetary peak. It probably makes 14-17 February most critical, but a seismic uptick may start already. Be on watch, just in case!
@RckOnMethuselah, I've been thinking the same thing. We have far more economic oower than we realize. To be effective it needs to be organized with start and stop dates.

Elderberries
Known for their health benefits and flu/cold reducing/fighting properties (https://food.news/2020-11-25-experience-the-protective-properties-wonder-fruits-elderberries.html), many people consume elderberry syrup. It can be expensive so growing your own berries is an option.
Late last winter I started growing elderberry plants from woody cuttings. Now I have a dozen shrubs 2' - 4' tall. I even got some berries! Next year's harvest should be bountiful.
If you are prepping for uncertain times, consider growing elderberry bushes.
