Been a bit quiet here lately but was listening to @HealthRanger yesterday and his mention of dewberries as forage food. Dewberry season is just starting here in NE Texas. We have a patch on our property.
There are a couple points Mike didn't mention. Dewberries are very thorny and the berries are often low to the ground so can be tricky to get to. Secondly, they often grow near poison oak. So dress appropriately when foraging!
Below is yesterday's haul with 2 random raspberries.
@gardengrub @HealthRanger I live on 121 acres in NE Texas and haven’t seen those berries here yet. I’ll have to get out and look more. We have tons of wild plums and sassafras though.
